NEW!! 3D Technology in the Media Center
3D printing is exciting!
The Makerbot Replicator 3D printer allows us to print objects that are “.stl” files. STL files break down an object layer by layer.
The Replicator printer uses an additive process. It prints one layer at a time laying down a thin layer of plastic wherever the object is solid. Then it lays another layer on top of the previous layer and repeats until the layers together form an object.
Parents: I am looking for a guest speaker who has experience using this technology. Please contact me in the Library or my email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in sharing your knowledge of 3D printing with me and our student body.
Students: Check out these websites:
Thingiverse has many pre-made items you can customize and we can try to print them out.
BlocksCAD is a block type program where you can learn to design your own toy or useful item.
